HUDDERSFIELD vs SPURS (1230 ko)
This has something of the David and Goliath about it, to borrow from the Old Testament. Goliath should be too strong, of course, but league games after a European away day aren’t always a given. Speaking ahead of the game, David Wagner said, “We want to pull them down to our level and then neutralise their offensive abilities.” Such insight, such honesty. Let’s hope they succeed. Away win.

BOURNEMOUTH vs LEICESTER
These teams are the bread of a West Ham sandwich. Neither side has started the season well and both will be looking to boost their league standing today. That should make for an open, entertaining game for anyone that may be watching. Draw.

MAN UTD vs CRYSTAL PALACE
Roy Hodgson knew what he was taking on and this will be as great a test as any for his new charges. Palace have only one fit striker, someone called Ladapo, who has not so far played a game for the first team. Damage limitation is the name of the game, but it’ll be no surprise if we see a rugby score after 90 minutes. Home win.

STOKE vs SOUTHAMPTON
The Saints have had real trouble scoring goals and have only scored in one game so far this season. No prizes for guessing who their opponents were then. A clean sheet at the Britannia will be their priority today, which could make for a less than thrilling encounter. Draw.

WEST BROM vs WATFORD
The Baggies are another team that’s struggled to find the back of the net. No such worries for Watford, who have won all their away games – but shipped six at home to Man City. There are worse games to whet the neutral’s appetite. Draw.

WEST HAM UNITED vs SWANSEA CITY
This is a genuine opportunity to put our season into gear and climb a few places up the table – and the first of four games that we should win. And it’s exactly the sort of game that we will need to win if mid-table security is to be achieved. There are many who will have aspired to greater things than that at the start of the campaign, but that’s the reality. Swansea have scored in only two league games so far, but have improved their defence since last year. So we can expect to face a well-organised and disciplined side. Antonio should be back in the starting line-up, while Lanzini may make the bench. We’re the stronger team, on paper, and have home advantage. All eyes on tactics. Home win.

CHELSEA vs MAN CITY (1730 ko)
The defending champions take on many people’s favourites for the title this year in a fine ending to the day’s Premier League line-up. City have proved they can still win without Aguero, but his absence is certainly a blow. Chelsea would have been equal on points with City if they hadn’t messed up against Burnley on the opening day. They are a strong team that seems little diminished by Costa’s departure. I have a feeling they’ll sneak this. Home win.

Re: Saturday football
Some good games this weekend.

I expect nothing less than a win today, if we don't get it and Bilic is still in charge on Monday then we can right the season off for sure.

Re: Saturday football
I'll be watching Flatliners this afternoon with the missus so similar to watching West Ham at the moment, Someone ask Billic if he fancies a bit of flatlining so we can bring him back

I'll watch a bit of Chelsea - City when I get back

Re: Saturday football
Huddersfield 0 Spurs 2
Bournemouth 1 Leicester 1
Man Utd 6 Palace 0
Stoke 1 Saints 3
WBA 0 Watford 0
WHU 2 Swansea 1
Chelsea 2 Man City 2

So if Palace lose this and their next match Hodgson will have to go going by what happened to De Boer

Two predictions of 0-0 for West Brom and Watford. I'll be surprised if there are no goals in that one.

Re: Saturday football
Some good-looking matches today (apart from whoever West Brom are "playing") but obviously don't really care about any but one.

It's a SEVEN-pointer. Praying that Bilic's supposedly big-brained Swan-eating head is actually engaged for once.

3-1 IRONS.

Manchester Utd LOTS Palace MINUS 1
Chelsea 2 Manchester City 4
Huddersfield 2 Them 2

The rest I'd just be making up.

Huddersfield took notes from us on how to shoot yourself in the foot effectively, and Mong the Merciless does it again. Bloke's is on fire, the wet chinned cunt.

How come all oh huddersfields players can control a ball first time, and are all confident to take players on and play through balls, and reverse passes. And almost all of our players can barely pass a ball 5 yards ?

Sickenly good goal, that. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat.

Re: Saturday football
Good goal, but Christ Spurs don't half get lucky so often. Rebounds falling to them, tackles ending up at their feet, referees giving them benefit of the doubt...

Coffee 2:27 Sat Sep 30
Re: Saturday football
They'll score a third in the second half, then have a man sent off. Huddersfield will mount a comeback, get two goals but time will run out before they can get an equaliser. Maybe.

claretandbluedagger 2:28 Sat Sep 30
Re: Saturday football
Right on cue, the ref ignores a potential penalty against them for a shove in the back. Seems familiar...
